MARIA WHITE - since 1916, this name has stood for one of Rosenthal's most popular and successful porcelain services. For generations, it's been the tableware for weddings and other festive occasions: elegant and timeless. The company founder, Philipp Rosenthal, acquired the shape during a trip to England. The name MARIA WHITE comes from Philipp Rosenthal's wife. The classic, polyhedral basic shape is framed by a delicate relief of finely curved pomegranates, which takes up design elements from the Biedermeier period. It's the square surfaces, which are contrasted with light and shadow effects, that give this shape its characteristic look. As early as the 1920s and 1930s, MARIA WHITE was a very comprehensive service with around 170 different parts. Today, MARIA WHITE is still the most comprehensive tableware from the Rosenthal brand.
